Winter Grass

As we approach the cooler months here at The Groves at South Mountain, the Board of Directors wants to share our options regarding overseeding the greenbelt for winter grass. This annual decision affects not just the appearance of our community but also our maintenance budget.

One option we have is to overseed the entire greenbelt. This would give us a lush, vibrant landscape throughout the winter, creating a beautiful environment for everyone to enjoy. It enhances the community experience by providing more green spaces for recreational activities and fostering a sense of pride in our neighborhood. However, going this route does come with significant costs. Full overseeding leads to increased maintenance, higher water usage, and elevated utility bills, typically resulting in an additional budget strain of over $10,000 each season.

Alternatively, we can continue the practice of overseeding only specific parts of the greenbelt, as we've done in recent years. This option is more budget-friendly, allowing us to save significantly on maintenance and utility expenses. While it may not provide the same level of lushness across the entire greenbelt, it still ensures that residents have access to green spaces without overextending our budget.

As we move forward, the Board will carefully consider these options. Our goal is to maintain the beauty of our community while being mindful of our financial responsibilities. Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep The Groves at South Mountain a wonderful place to live!
